Rest in Peace

We went to Pampanga last Friday night and attended the wake of my hobby’s favorite Aunt who passed away last Tuesday night. We feel so saddened that Indang Lucia even promised to attend Tatay’s first year death anniversary this April but I know they both will because Tatay is with her now. My hubby said that his Aunt helped him with all his needs since he was born. Hubby was quite sickly until his 7th year of age but Inda helped them in anyway she can up until his college years.

We last saw her strong last year when we attended her birthday celebration and we went to Pampanga. Hubby visits her when she was in ICU in a hospital in Angeles, Pampanga last January. But it her time to go and I know she’s happy that she made it that far. She was finally laid to rest this afternoon and she left with us all her loving and happy and cheerful memories. May you rest in peace with our Dear Lord and Tatay, Indang Lucia.

We will surely miss you, Inda. Be at peace.

Beautiful Girl

I finally met Cathy Remperas of PBB Double Up (a reality show here in the Phils.) last Friday. I doubted at first if I can go with my other friends in Pinoy Exchange.com because we had a meeting that day and the meeting place in Edsa Shangri-La Mall was too far from my office in Sucat, Paranaque and the traffic in Edsa was unbearable.

But I made it. I ride a bus going to Magallanes and then take an MRT ride to Shaw Blvd. I was just on time and I changed my office clothes to a casual dress and then I saw Cathy standing with my other friends. She is beautiful, I’m taller than her though she looks likes tall in the TV and she has the same aura of what we projected her in the show, spontaneous, happy and always smiling. We proceeded in the California Pizza Kitchen because that’s the first restaurant we saw on that floor. We can’t just move around to check on the other place to eat because Cathy was already with us.

We ordered the foods, and she ate while telling us that the foods will surely ruined her diet. We told her that she’s thin already and no need to go on diet anymore. She talked on her starting TV career and we planned for the get together on March 6.

I noticed that she has an olive skin, and her eyes are indeed beautiful. Her face is so small I can shape my palm on her face. We went on giving her our gifts and she’s thankful that she thought it’s her birthday that day. We went out at 10pm and everybody was so happy being with her again. I wish her the best in her showbiz career.

Endless

My high school best friend celebrated her birthday last week, I wrote on my previous posts about our birthday bonding and I’m happy that our promise was not made to be broken. I know that even if we seldom see each other because of work and busy family life we can always find some precious time to be together.

We ate at Mang Inasal and we talked about our daily lives. Then we transferred at a coffee shop at the ground floor of SM Sucat and we continue on our endless conversation. One thing that’s really exciting when meeting them is that we can always talk on everything and anything and laughed ourselves out loud. It brings me back during our secondary school years that despite of adjusting a lot in our adolescent years, we can always managed to bring out the best laughed anytime.

While in the middle of our non-stop talking, the lights in SM went off and we laughed when we noticed that the mall and the store around us was already closed (ha-ha!) But we didn’t worry that we can’t continue our conversation because we went to the parking lot and we sat near the car of my friend and we talked again till we run out of topic. Before my friend dropped us near our place, she gave us tikoy (Chinese New Year pudding) and mine is my favorite ube flavor! Happy Birthday, Emy! God bless you always =)

A Fishful Date

It was a fun filled weekend for me; I’ve been to my friend's birthday then Big Brother Big Night at Ninoy Aquino Stadium and today, a Valentines Day. We thought of celebrating this special day at Tagaytay, but since I have lots of happenings to attend, we got tired of the plan. Hubby suggested that we go and visit Manila Ocean Park at Luneta and I liked the idea of spending some cozy time with the fishes (ha-ha!). You have to get a number in the place marshals and wait for your number to be called before you can pay at the cashier for P400 ($8.69). We have to wait long, so we thought of eating snacks at the nearby restaurant before going back to check on our numbers. Gerry’s Grill serves delicious spaghetti and club house sandwich and we are so full when we got up from our seats =)

Ocean Park is truly worth it, especially when you are nature or sea lovers. You got to find different species of fish and the stingrays are big and really amazing and the sharks are really scary but beautiful.

But the nicest thing we did is to try the Fish Spa. I always read something about it and I can’t wait to dip my feet on the water to test if they will really nibble on your dead skins. I found out that it’s relaxing, at first it tickles and you’ll be a bit scared, but once your skin get accustom to their nibbling, it’s enjoyable too! We both enjoyed it. My feet felt good after the fish spa and I want to try it again someday.

I have a great time today. I wish everybody can celebrate with their love ones even on their simplest ways. I was so touch when hubby surprises me with the balloons, cards and cakes when I entered our room while he waited downstairs last night. He never change, still sweet as ever =)

Happy Hearts Day, friends!

Reunited

I never thought that when I agreed to my father’s request to join them in my cousin’s wedding, I will be attending a truly remarkable and elegant occasion. The ceremony/reception was held in the Quezon hall of Makati Shangri-La Hotel. My aunt (the mother of the group) invited Papa over the phone since they all coming from Ilocos Sur and the groom and his bride both came from the US where they both reside. They said we need to be in our formal dress. And I never thought that it is way too formal that I told hubby we should at least buy a pair of formal dress for any occasions that requires dressing up formal.

This occasion has double purpose, a wedding and a reunion of my father’s relatives that are now living abroad. I can see how Papa hopped from table to table before the ceremony begins and get someone and introduced to us. Most of them are not really familiar to me. My father was so happy meeting his distant cousins and nephew/nieces that he never sees for so many years. I know this occasion means a lot to him.

The ceremony was solemn and was wonderfully coordinated. From table numbers, makeshift altar decorations to their 5-layer wedding cake and the live band added some happy feeling with their kind of love music. The foods above all these are the best. From their appetizer to main dish to the sweetest desserts you ever wished for are all there. Every visitor can’t ask for more and we need not to go back for the second serving because we are so full already. I really love their foods! After eating, they also serve coffees (if you like) and they also make rounds for some red wine, champagne or whiskey. I ‘m so happy I witnessed this joyous moment of their life and I wish all the best for my newly wed cousins, Adrian and Maria =)

Love them all!

Happy Feet

I take a different route on the way home tonight because I really wanted to try the newly opened salon in the area where I usually took another ride going home. There’s a package of P200 ($4.44) for a foot spa with manicure and pedicure. And I think this fits to my budget when it comes to beauty treatment. I have been complaining to hubby that needed a foot massage because it was ages ago since I done it at the mall (well, mall rate is way more expensive than a local salon). But my curiosity on trying this new salon is overwhelming that I have this urge to go and try one of their services.

At first I peeked into their window and checked if there’s a lot of customers so I can back out anytime without going inside but I guess it was for me, I saw 2 empty coaches that meant for the foot and hand massage customers. The owner is friendly; the salon is air conditioned and the assigned staff works great in my hands and most especially with my feet. I gave her a nice tip after.

I reached home just in time to watch the last episode of a phenomenal drama TV series (May Bukas Pa) and hubby informed me that my sister called that we will have to attend my cousin son’s wedding in Makati tomorrow afternoon. See, I really need to have a happy feet because the attire is formal =)

Oatmeal Cookies

I am so hooked to Pinoy Big Brother (PBBDU) show and I enjoy talking to my newly found friends in the internet that I know I am neglecting to do some things I planned to accomplish this year.   And one of them is baking.  When a friend asked me if I can make oatmeal cookies for her, I thought I never tried doing that.  But as I browse the recipes in my favorite baking site, I have this urge to give it a try.  Last night, I went to the local store and bought some easy to cook oatmeal and after watching my favorite show, I proceeded in making my first time cookies.  I put a little of walnuts and lots of cashew nuts plus raisins to make it taste good.

I found out that the tray I bought is too big for my oven so I had to do something to make it fit.  I have to remind myself to buy baking sheets for my cookies next time.  I’m starting to buy my baking utensils one by one though I know the next thing after that is to have my own cabinet.  This is really getting expensive but very fulfilling hobbies =) I hope I can make business out of it someday.
