Long Vacation

I’m excited and at the same time feeling the pressure in the office because I will take a leave from work starting tomorrow and will resume work next week, New Year. Though I’m still sleepy and tired I need to work and turn over my work properly. I actually planned to take a leave the whole week but I need to accomplished one important work and hopefully we can pull it though to start a new year with some good news.

Aside from the much anticipated long weekend, I take the opportunity to bring home our account pet cat who’s serving his terms beside our rest room and he never leaves the area when we started to give him foods to eat. He’s been such a good cat that everyone likes him and he becomes our resident pet. But he needs to move out before our boss in compliance department will notice that he’s been there all along when the others was being thrown out and away one by one. I know he will be a good house pet but I’m worried Chase will never accept him because that’s the way of the cats and dogs but I’m hoping he will let Muning the cat to at least stay in front of our door. I endure to ride in the jeepney going home with Nathan’s gifts and a big box with a cat inside in both hands. Munings keeps on scratching the box and he even clawed my finger accidentally and it hurts! But he’s well behaved when I let him out of the box and I hope when I wake up next morning, he’s still there. So, fingers crossed :)

Hedwig

My niece sent me a message late this afternoon that deeply saddens me. My old pet Hedwig falls from the stairs from the rooftop to the second floor. They didn’t know what or how did it happened but my sister only finds out when she’s looking for our dog to feed him and she found him at the rooftop lying in the floor soaking wet from the rain and unable to move. She said she saw Hedwig walking in pain but today is different, she was crying in pain every time they tried moving her in a better place.

My mom said she saw him eating well when my sister gave her the food she brought from our home. But now my niece said she doesn’t move anymore and she seems like dying. My heart really aches and I cant help but to think on how can she fall from the stairs like that. Hedwig is my loyal dog who watches over me every time of the day when I’m still living in our family home in Pasay. As much as I wanted to bring her with me when I got married, I can’t and I left her with my sisters so she can guard them since they are all girls in that house when my Dad stayed in our Laguna house and my only brother went to Qatar.

I don’t know what to do to ease her pain. I want to bring her to the vet clinic but they might recommend putting her to sleep since she’s old and they can’t do anything if there are broken bones. Tomorrow, I will visit her in our house and will talk to her heart to heart. I know she will listen. If she’s hurting much, it’s time to let her go and send her to the rainbow bridge. If she can still make it, I will be forever grateful. She will always be loved till the day that she needs to move on. God knows.

Pet Stories

I have this passion these past few days to read something about dogs. I see to it during my idle time to browse for some heroic deeds of our canine friends to their human families. I had some teary eyed moments every time I read stories of great rescues of those unfortunate pets and the healing power they gave to people who were in great sorrow. I cried a bucket of tears after I watched the movie of Richard Gere entitled Hachi: A dog‘s tale and based on a true story of dog’s loyalty to his master even after his death that happened in Japan. I laughed and cried in the movie, Marley and Me and this is about the story of one struggling family together with their Labrador dog named Marley. That made me read more about great stories about dogs.

As a dog lover like them, I appreciate all their efforts in making their dogs happy and treated like a member of their family. How they keep on looking for their pets amidst the tornado, earthquake and tsunami that devastated their properties. I bow to those who gave time and efforts to rescue these pets and reunite with their families. Someday, I want to be a part of these mission and I will help any way I can for our beloved four legged friends. J

Wonder Dog

I’m back at work and I just wish I can have few more days to rest.  My head still hurts and my eyes unfocused.  I promise I will not open my pc at night to rest my eyes.

I have some cute and funny moments with our pet dog Chase during the times that I was sick.  My mother in law said that Chase just stays in our room and don’t even eat his food or bark at all.  I remember last Sunday when I have fever, I saw him sleeping beside me and we even shared the same pillow. My hubby said that he was like that the whole day. When I ate at the bed because I am too weak to go down, he will just sit beside the bed table and watched over me.  So when he goes down to pee, my MIL blocked the stairs with boxes so he can’t go up so he eat his foods, but he becomes agitated, barks at them and keeps on moaning while trying his way up again.  All the times that I was sleeping, he also sleeps beside me, sometimes putting his head on my feet or playing with the socks I'm wearing.

They are worried that he’ll get sick too by not eating so I decided to go down and eat dinner at the dining table.  He went down with me and to their amazement, when Chase saw that I’m putting some soup in the bowl, he approached his dog bowl and chows all his foods while he keeps on glancing at me.  By the time I sit on the chair, he already finished his foods and he jumps on the empty chair beside me and watched me eat.

I was so touched on how he behaves that day.  Sometimes we wonder if he can really sense that I am sick.  And he’s helping me in his very own unique way.  We knew how sweet Chase is and he does things that made you think that he’s a human reincarnated. But I am so grateful that he accompanied me during the times that I am hurting.  What a wonder dog =)

Reliable Companion

Hubby is in Mall of Asia now with the rest of his IT team for some "planning" session. Planning in the sense of bowling and billiards and dinner without their laptops out. Last night, when he showed me their full packed schedules this week (they have visitors from India) i'm amused with their boss pulling out some activities like this to let his men take a time off from such a stressful job.

With my hubby out, I'm here alone with our puppy, Chase. He has this habit that when I'm in front of my PC.. he runs around the room, pick up his dog house- tossed it up, pull out his blanket and bite it hard as if he wants to eat it too.. he growls a lot when he knows his doings didn't catch my attention. And when he's tired in mess
ing around, he jumps up in our bed, looked for something to play and chew..then slide down to rest and eventually sleep. That's our Chase. He loves to make us laugh showcasing his talents and he knows if ever I'm sad, he would lick my hand as if he's pacifying me.

And he likes to pose in front of my camera! Great dog isn't it? Take a look of his pictures.

Chase again!

We got up early this morning, though Chase didn't spare me from sleeping more because its Saturday and there's no work, he never failed getting up to our bed, doing his unhurtful little bites just to wake me up.... He won... but i'm so sleepy that i cut his daily walk and after hes done on his morning routine (peeing and pupu), i just leave him with his food at the living room and went straight to the bed to extend my sleep. Good thing i saw my mother-in-law going down from their door... Now, i can add a little more time....

When Jhon went to the spa and i left watching PBB teen edition+, i went out to close the glass window from the outside..... suddenly, Chase slip though the tiny opening of the door as I'm about to go out and run fast outside towards the gate... i went back to the house to wear my slippers and called him out loud.. but the thought that he was outside,alone... and without his sling... he never mind me calling him.

I was so shocked to see that he manage to slipped into the gate and i saw the taxi passing by. He might have seen the taxi that i saw him going under the parked car and when he sees me, he runs back to our house as fast as he could.

My heart beats so fast that i grabbed him and spank his feet and he wiggle from my grip as he understand that he just broke a major rule. As i let him down, he immediately went under our stairs, hide and then run going up to our room.

Now, as i went up to blog, i saw him lying at our bed as if nothing happens....I should have known Chase better ...... sweet yet so stubborn and strong willed dog... I have to put extra care of him.

Chase the Menace?

Our stocks supplies in our kitchen were about to run out... i joke my hubby that its because prices in the grocery store are too high that it affects our monthly budget..so we agreed to meet at SM (mall of Asia) to do some groceries shopping. On my way, he text me that we should go home first to look after Chase -- whose running mad and wild inside our house and my mother in law can't even touch him. He barks furiously at my father in law every time Chase sees him. Nanay said it all happens when Tatay prevented Chase to go out to follow Nanay outside. Cats are all over the place and with Chase as fast runner , they can never catch Chase once he run after them.

Though i heed to my hubbys request, I can't believe it, Chase is so small and sometimes people thought its a chihuahua puppy. When i reached the house, i peeked in the window to look for Chase, and there he was, lying at the middle of the living room with lots of pieces of foam all over the place. Nanay opened the door for me, and Chase wake up and jump and i carried him. I asked my in law, what happen...she said what my husband sent in my cellphone, she can't prevent Chase to ruin the foams below our sofa set. How can it be?

If only Chase can talk when i brought him in our room, I asked him whats happening to him... instead, he looked at me, sad in his face and went to lay down at the corner of our bed. I smiled.... i can't tell, whether hes saying he's guilty or not by the way he looked at me.. So, i had this urged to snapped a picture of him. O, Chase, we might bring you back to Laguna if they choose not to take care of you anymore....

Choc-leit

I shouldn't forget to post something about Choc-leit, a barely 2 month old male toy poodle of my sister Nelms, quite an adorable puppy, and quite a stunner like fluffy (RIP), but they can never let Choc-leit roams around the house, he is so delicate and easy to catch disease since he is too young..

everybody can't wait to play with him so sometimes, we let him out of his cage..

Chase

Well, It takes a little puppy to bring some joy and fun in our house. Chase, a 4 month old miniature Pinscher arrived with us in our house last Sunday... Our family used to own dogs since we are kids but my husband's family never had a dog until now... Chase, having 3 homes in a row, was terrified and shocked when we entered the house..his whole body is trembling, but i hugged him and assured him that we will love him as our newest pet ( we had a love birds first)... he seems ok after a while...

And now, looking back on how i heard them laughing as Chase run around the living room, smells at the closed door and then barks furiously...he might have smell again the stray cats that roams outside.. And they really adores him now, some more days and he will relax with the new environment and people around him..

One little problem, Chase never want to sleep alone in the living room, not yet, so he sleep in our room, below our bed, after he runs back and front, chewing something and then lay flat and sleep as if never happens...

You'll be remembered forever, Fluffy

Fluffy died last Wednesday 03/19/08... no, he was not just died in his natural way, but though it pains us so much, my sister decided to do the mercy killing... fluffy, suffered from edema ( the increase of interstitial fluid in any organ — swelling) and the vet can't do anything about it, since all his lower muscles constrict that they cant penetrate it with the catheter.

God only knows what really happened that night, that fluffy had that accident.. all we know was he suffered enough that we cant let him prolonged the pain.

As my sister, nieces and nephew cried after i text them what will happen to fluffy, i approached motionless fluffy at the table where he laid and i talked to him... that the pain will end now, and thanking him for all the wonderful memories we had with him.. for being such a sporty fellow, always following us around the house, doing his tricks to summer (our Labrador dog), waking us up, and we will surely miss him... i know, as his blank stare at me... he understands...that it needs to be done.

I took some pictures of fluffy for the last time. And then we leave the animal hospital, we cant bare to see how they will initiate it.

You will always be remembered, fluffy. Have a safe trip to heaven...

Get Well Soon, Fluffy!

I feel strange that night (Saturday,16 March), upon entering the gate, and almost everyone are calling our toy poodle named fluffy (as he was always the first one to greet you with his jolly barks) Our house help opened the door and she looked quite pale.. i went straight to the kitchen and found fluffy, hes not moving, just sitting at the floor looking at me... he looked odd and his tail was inside his leg as common to the dog who looked scared and most of all, i thought i he's hurt...

indeed, as i approached him and touched his tail, he wailed.. he stood up and i saw him limping.. i was so shocked that i called everyone in the house, almost shouting at them... and then Jona told us the she found fluffy at the neighbors front gate. And my mom, told her she saw a man riding in a bike passed through our gate and she heard a faint sound of fluffy outside. That man might have run through with fluffy, the other side of the street are dark and a small animal like fluffy will be your unfortunate victim, you wont see him walking in there because of his dark brown color...

My sister immediately called fluffy's vet but her cp was out of reach. It was almost 10pm. As time passes, we are just looking at fluffy who was in deep hurt as he tried to sit or walk and we cant do anything about it.. He is wailing and crying like a child and he didn't eat that night.

Before that, we went that night to Leslies, Alabang and ate dinner because my brother departed that Sunday dawn back to Qatar. I remembered that fluffy was the first one to jumped inside the van, settles to his seat and refused to came down from the van when Jona was calling him to get down. After what happened to him, we are all thinking, we should have carry him with us that night.

My sister, brought fluffy to the vet the following day as she said they never got asleep because fluffy kept crying and wailing the whole night. The vet immediately did some x-ray and revealed the bad news to my sister.... the connecting bones between fluffy's hip and leg bones was cracked and they can't simply cast his legs anymore and only a operation can help and it will costs my sister, P30,000.

Fluffy might died earlier than the usual life span of a poodle because he cannot mate and walk straight for the rest of his life. A shot of anti-inflammatory and antibiotics was scheduled for 1 week to lessen the pain until he will get used to his new limping right foot as his cracked bones heals.

yesterday, my sister text me that she brought fluffy back to the vet because he's crying again the whole night and she saw that his "birdie" and "eggs" are swollen and looked black (like a beaten meat), a case of a Hematoma and hes not eating for 2 days...just drinking his water.

So the vet decided to admit fluffy to the hospital, put dextrose and scheduled a ultrasound to reveal if the accident damaged his liver... no one knows if fluffy can make it through the pain... hes really hurt, you can see it in his eyes.. he is such our darling... so sweet..

He's still in the hospital till now and as my sister visited him last night, the caretaker of the hospital told her that fluffy seems fighting for his dear life, now barking upon seeing other dogs, and wagging his tail when someone approached him...

I'll go there tonight and visits him... he needs a morale booster from his family. Get well soon, Fluffy.. I can't wait to play with you again.
