So Proud

Nathan just had their culmination activity graduating from kinder 2.  In few months now, he’ll be attending school as grade 1.  Come to think of it, my little boy is growing fast now and before I can blink an eye, he will start to do things on his own.  He’ll be celebrating his 7th birthday this year.

I am always proud of my son, he gave us headaches I know.  He’s not even perfect. He can bring out the worst in you, reminding yourself that patience is a virtue, test your blood pressure, or your level of sanity. Sometimes when things get out of hand and I question everything or go back to whatever happens or if we are doing the right thing on raising him. But when such things are questionable, he would do one thing that makes your heart swell on how proud you are for having him.

Their recent culminating activity is one proof that makes us so proud and happy.  He sings live in their mini talent showcase with his classmate and not even shy about it.  He nailed the song, he nailed his get up, he was so handsome wearing his sunglass and he totally rocks the place.  Their emcee called them the kinder garden heartthrob.  Yes, I strongly agree to that one, he's our very own heartthrob.   And even the parents, teachers and audience are congratulating them for a job well done. Definitely one of the main highlights of the program, he was so happy and he knows that he did good that he even asked for a toy from his Daddy because he said he’s very good, dancing and singing up there in the stage as if he really owns it.

He’s getting bigger and older, but on God’s grace, may he grow up happy, full of life and healthy and continue being the heartthrob J

Dealing with toodler

I’ve been reading a lot of articles about children’s behavior.  But what catches my eyes are the articles on dealing with your toddlers and  your behavior towards them.  My husband is working at home now to recuperate on his knee surgery.  He is the one who’s dealing with our 4 years old son, Nathan.  I am quite amazed on how he managed to let him eat his food properly whereas when I’m around the table (mostly during at night and weekends), he would whine at me to help him on his food and sometimes I can’t help but to assist him.  When all of their voice are becoming hoarse telling Nathan to stop doing this and that, I just sat there and doing nothing.  My reasons? They are all reprimanding him for doing something wrong and I don’t need to add to that.  I don’t want him to feel that his every move is wrong.   I’m wondering sometimes if that is right, if I’m doing it right.

I don’t what to lose control of myself when Nathan’s pushing all my buttons.  I regret the one time that I did and I don’t want to be into it again.  So I always keep saying to myself that he’s just curious and whenever you tell him not to do that, he will be more curious and so the never ending cycle begins.  One thing I noticed though, children easily forgives.  No matter how you yell your heart out, give him time out, received some spankings and hurt his feelings, after few minutes, he’d come to you hug you and say sorry for what he’s done and then you will look at him with no trace of hurt and he’s back playing.   And you will be left with the guilty feeling that there you are still seething with anger and he’s the one who’s trying to make amends.  I’ve learned a lot from Nathan.  We are learning from each other every day.  But, at the end of the day, he knows that we love him very much.  :)

Hair Cut Moment

I need to brag this out.  Nathan finally went to have his hair cut without crying his lungs out, wailing and struggle his might out of the barbers reach.  And I swear I was teary eyed when I saw that he let me stand and he sit alone at the high chair.  He even allows the barbers cloth around his body and he has a worried look on his face but the car that the barber’s son allowed him to carry is one of the big factors.  And also, the promise of ice cream and mall strolls helps a lot since I kept on telling him that before we go to the barber shop. But with all the previous hair cut that we’ve been through, no matter how I tell him that it’s okay, he freaks out with the sounds of the razor or the clicking of the scissors.

But I guess, he’s a big boy now and he realized that the scissors or razor won’t hurt him.  I even asked our house keeper to go with us so she can help me hold Nathan just in case he’ll start throwing his best cry and struggle combination.  I just wish I have my cell phone with me to capture this special moment of my life.  We never stop praising him for a job well done.  And of course, we never forget to give him the ice cream we promised.  Best ever :)

Commercial Offer

Nathan loves the mall.  Maybe he acquired it to his Daddy who loves to stroll around to relax.  I think Nate knows that when he saw us both in bed when he wakes up, its weekend and it means SM (his favorite mall of all time).  And he’ll keep on telling that to us till we will be all dressed up and ride the car.

And his favorite place in the mall? Tom’s World.  And who wouldn’t like to be in that place.  I guess kids and young at heart loves to play.  Later this afternoon, when he’s having a time of his life playing around, a lady approaches me and asked me if how old is Nathan.  I told her he’s 2 years and a half.  She said she’s from an advertising company and my son is handsome and he’s looking for a 3 year old boy for a TV commercial and would like Nathan to audition.   I feel proud right at that moment but politely said he will turn 3 this October.  She asked if he has an older brother.

I happily told his Daddy about that encounter and he said there will be more of that when he gets old.  Ha-ha! For the meantime, Nathan doesn’t know anything about it and he keeps asking for tokens so he can play basketball.  Well, we’ll cross the bridge when we get there.  Thank you Lord for all the blessings and for this wonderful family.

Happy weekend, friends!

Gangnam Party

Nate ’accidentally joined a 7 year old birthday party just beside my sister’s eatery.  We went there to visit my family and we saw that they setting up the tables and chair.  When they played the kids all-time favourite dance song, Gangnam Style he started to dance in front of the kids and they eventually joined him in the party.

We are all laughing out loud for he dominates the dance floor even though he’s the youngest of them all.  The energy and his charming ways fave the way and everyone are asking about him, his age, where he lives.  He’s our little star.  He even joined the “trip to Jerusalem “game and he keeps on dancing while turning rounds and rounds till he was out.  My cousin was amazed to see him eating spaghetti on his own.  No mess, no spoil foods and when he’s done he asked me to get the plate for him.  They say he learned so much more with just a little time teaching him what to do.

Nathan’s is our joy.  He makes all the stars in the night shining when he laughs.  He starting to utter longer than 2 words together and his energy never wears off.  I admit I have to keep fit to be able to keep up with his energy.  He is starting to say things that I think need a little bit of explanations.  His tantrums are bearable.  We can change his mind to stay away for those things that are off limits to him. Keeping up with Nathan is our major goal.  We hope he stay happy forever ♥

Taller

Nathan is growing fast.  Some friends will sometimes asked how old is he and when I said he just turned two, they said he looks taller in his age.  Well, we noticed that too.  And just like the other children these days, he is quite smart and observes everything he finds interesting.  What we like in him is we have no hard time taking his pictures.  He loves to pose in front of the picture and whenever he’s crying, we just say, we will take his picture and he abruptly stop from crying.  We can bring him to the mall without having a hard time coping up with running skills, we will just call his name and he’ll stop and goes back to us.

I can’t believe I’m looking with his handsome face every day knowing how God blessed us with this little angel.  Last night, we went to do some groceries and he saw these lanterns for sale.  He gamely posed for a few pictures and takes a look with his breath taking smile.  What an angel! ♥

Riding Team

Summer time and kids are all in school vacation much to the delight of my son, Nathan. He loves to play with his older cousins and he enjoys every minute with them. Nathan already knew how to feel sad whenever they will bid him goodbye or they are not around. They wish I can still have another baby so he’ll not feel alone and that is our fervent prayers, too. But for now, we are his best friends and he and his Dad’s biggest playground is the Mall of Asia.

Now he’s trying to ride not only in the usual Merry-go round but he loves to try other children’s rides like the new Honey bee ride at the sea side area and the indoor Ferris wheel. I can’t believe he’s not scared riding that high unlike me who doesn’t want to just even try. I hate the feeling of like something is twisting your stomach and making me throw up.

He’s having a time of his life playing. And it feels like I’m being a kid again seeing how happy he is. I simply love his smile. It brightens everyone else feeling around him. Well, another to-do lists whenever he hears the word, Mall.

Tantrums

We always know Nathan as sweet little boy with a happiest spirit on earth. But as he grows fast and now a little toddler, he’s behavior is changing day by day and throwing tantrums is on the top list. He wants to get things that are not allowed for him to play and he cry his heart out whenever he can’t get want he wants. His pediatrician said I should have one person to look at him personally whenever hubby and I are in the office. Nate’s age means exploration, wandering, curiosity and testing all the things he sees around him.

Nate wanted to play the fork and spoon and he mightily throwing a fit. ha-ha!

And even with our smiling faces in the pictures, his dramatic pose says it all :)

But Nate’s tantrums can be easily diverted to other thing, in which I think we should need to be on alert on that. Sometimes he used his moods to get on the way and then smiles happily on you when he has it. Soon he will grow up and will no longer allow us to call him baby. But he will always be our little prince and for now, we will enjoy being with him every single day with or without his tantrums :)

Growing Up

Just want to share with you that Nathan is a big little boy now! He is so active, curious and exploring his whole world that we need to act fast or he will leave you behind.

My hubby and I felt the happiness for having Nathan around. He brightens our tiring day in the office. He never fails to amaze us with all new words and things he learns by just copying the oldies. He loves to dance, one day a group of sales personnel in SM department store gathered around him because his dancing with the centralized music in the mall (and yes, it’s the 80’s disco music they were playing that time) but no worries, just a beat can make him dance gracefully. One thing I know, they were all clapping and cheering for him and my heart swells with gladness. My phone is new at that time and I was so disappointed that I thought I was able to record the whole dance of Nate but when I check it at home, I recorded nothing. But I there will be more as I see it. He really loves the music and the music loves him.

LBM

I took my first leave from work this year because Nathan needs to see his pedia, his LBM is worsening and I’m afraid it will lead to dehydration and we don’t want that to happen. Good thing that his health card from hubby’s company is now effective since January.

I don’t want to change his paediatrician anymore but then when I checked on the card’s coordinator I found out that his paediatrician is included in the lists of accredited doctors. We were so glad that I never have to change Nate’s doctor anymore. Nate was subjected to fecalysis test and he advised to drink lots of fluid and some vial to prevent his diarrhea from getting worst. His doctor reminds us to observe his moods, or if his lips get dry and his if he gets lethargic. But looking at him he is so active and loves to play and I pray that despite of his watery poos, he will respond to the medicine his doctor gave him. And I just spent my whole Friday being with my baby. I love the bonding moments.

Collecting Gifts

Nathan is feeling the spirit of Christmas right now, with lots of love around him from his family and gracious gifts from our relatives whenever they dropped by in our house from abroad or those who wants to say hi to him. They said he looks handsome in his face book pictures but he’s more handsome in person. Wow, I can see a future in entertainment world. Ha-ha!

Nathan used to ignore me whenever I call his name for the picture taking but now once I click on my camera he will give me his angelic smiles and even pose for more pictures. So I’m not having a hard time now when I take a picture of his Boracay shirts that my hubby’s cousin gave him the other night after a week stint in that famous beach. After a few more practice steps and he just went to sleep. Aw, such a baby :)

Merry Go Round

We were so amazed on how strong and fearful Nathan is. Sometimes I wonder will he be like that when he grows old but it really depends to us who will be looking and guiding him all though out.  The only thing he won’t try is to walk unattended but I know he can walk already if he wants to.  We sometimes see him stand alone but when he becomes aware that he’ll be walking alone, he’ll sit and just crawl.

But once you let him walk with you holding his other hand, you’ll be surprised on how strong, fast and almost running he can be. He can ride the horse ride in Tom’s World without holding him and even the merry-go-ride in Mall of Asia.  My sister will just stand beside him just in case but he cling to the handle so strong he can even wave his other hand to us.  We are so proud of him.  He loves going out like his Dad and my Mom and I hope he will not include Toy Kingdom as his favorite place in the mall (ha-ha!).

♥ Happy 1st Birthday, Nathan! ♥

It’s Nathan’s special day! And the weeks of preparations and planning paid off, it was such a successful Angry Birds birthday celebration held in Shakey’s.  Lots of children with their parents came to celebrate with us and Nathan was quite curious with what is going on but he eventually went with some of our guests to our surprise, he didn’t even cried or felt uneasy and he welcomes all picture-taking with the others.  We were so proud of him.

I thanked our family, relatives, officemates, best friends, friends and class mates for taking time to be with Nathan that day.  I’m quite worried that we will start the party late because of traffic and we have a 4-day long vacation.  But my reminders paid off, they came minutes before the party time and the kids enjoyed the games, even the oldies participated.

Nate’s birthday cake was a stand out and everyone enjoyed the cup cakes and candies and Nate loves all the gifts. Thank God for making Nate’s celebration a success, I wish You continue blessing him with good health and happy years ahead.

Happy Birthday, Carl Nathan! Our baby joy :)

Excited

Few days more and Nathan will turn one year old. We've been preparing his party for weeks now and I hope everything will turn out right. It will be an angry bird’s party and it will spell F-U-N! I’m also thinking of long vacation next week because of All Saints and Souls Day and just imagining a long day with my family makes me dream that every week should have a legal holiday (ha-ha!) it will be great and wonderful, right?

I still have few more things to buy so my hubby can settle to our games prizes and souvenirs because he believes that the more the merrier. So to pacify him and just to move on with other important things to do, I will go back to shop with angry birds items.

But above all, hubby and I are so excited for Nate’s big day. Looking at him today, I never thought he’s grown up now and we can always play with him, go out in the mall with him, buy things for him and everything about him. I told hubby I want to go to places with Nathan and appreciate all the good things we can give him while we can. God is good all the times.

Check out

Looking at Nathan now, I thank God that He let my son recovered quickly from the deadly Dengue and pneumonia disease. We have no idea how Nathan was able to get that but one thing I know, we are not safe from the disease carrying mosquito wherever we are. So we need to be very cautious in cleaning our environment and our home and don’t let any flying insects bite your precious child ever again.

Nathan still needs to continuously take his antibiotic for his pneumonia for the next five days and twice a day. After a week, a follow up check up is necessary before he gets his clean bill of health. I don’t want to go on that stressful stage again. My sister can’t even take Nathan’s crying when the doctors were having a hard time putting his IV fluid and she just run away from the room and asked a friend to talk to her on the phone or else she might have a heart attack. The pain and cries of Nathan every time they need to get a blood sample for CBC and platelets count were unbearable. I just wish I can lessen the pain and be the one to take it just to spare him from that dilemma.

But above all, I am so grateful to have my family and close friends beside us during that time. I couldn’t ask for more. I just wish our baby Nathan will never have to be in that situation again.

Fever

We are all worried when Nathan suddenly had a fever again. He was just so active a day before but when he slept last night, he cried and he seems having difficulty in breathing. I found out he has runny nose and it irritates him a lot. Good thing I have this nose pump I bought months ago and it helps keeping the mucus out from his nose. He sleeps between me and hubby and I was shocked when I wake up to feed him his milk and found out that he’s hot. And I almost cried when I checked that he has fever again. Oh, no!

It seems persistent till now and I already gave a heads up to my supervisor that I may not able to come to the office because I will have Nathan check by his Paediatrician tomorrow. We can’t just ignore those symptoms now that we should be all alert because of the bad weather these days. I am so thankful to God that he still kind of alert and he drinks a lot of water and he really wanted to eat but his bitter taste buds rejected the solid food. I pray that he will get well soon. We are so heartbroken hearing his cries and he seems in pain but we will go to the doctor and we will see our baby jumping and dancing and laughing again. Please help us to pray for my son’s speedy recovery. Thanks!

♥ 11th Month! ♥

Nathan turns 11 months today and my heart swells with gladness to see my baby growing fast, handsome and happy. I asked my sister to come with me in SM Sucat to buy the cake for Nathan and we should hurry home before Nathan fell asleep. Nate changes his sleeping schedule and we need to celebrate before the night ends.

Our baby can stand and walk now with some guide but we let him roam around the living room with the sofa set, his crib and his toy car as his guide and he loves it. So when I let him pose for the picture and saw he can stand in front of the sofa chair, I feel so proud just by looking at him like that. And what a boy, he now knows to make face and I captured every angle of it. Next month will be his first and we are so excited for our baby.

Happy 11th month Carl Nathan! ♥

♥ 10th Month! ♥

Carl Nathan is celebrating his 10th month today and 2 month more and he will be celebrating his much awaited first birthday! Hubby and I went to Quiapo since we missed going to this place for quite some time now.  We never forget to buy pansit hubby’s favorite Chinese restaurant in Ongpin before we headed home and stop to the nearest Goldilocks store to get his cake.

And there he is, smiling at us and so happy to see his Mom and Dad.  I changed his clothes and he’s all willing to drive his car and pose for the souvenir pictures.  My family came to celebrate with us and they all noticed that Nathan is growing fast.  He is such a happy child and he never fails to brighten our day.

Happy 10th month Nathan! We love you so much!

Angel Smile

Nathan can really pose for the pictures.  But only if he is in good mood, because if not, there’s no way you can make him smile for a shot so good thing a SLR camera helps to captured  that  heavenly smile.  So when my eldest sister put a "bandana" or a big handkerchief on his head, she rushed to me carrying my baby and told me to take a picture while Nathan is in his playful mood.  And it was fantastic! He really looks angelic and fabulous in every picture and I hope one day, I can find time to study basic photography so I can have a better shot on him as he grows.

Just take a look on this handsome shots of our baby Nate :)

♥ 9th Month! ♥

It’s baby Nathan’s 9th month today and I am so happy that he’s growing up way too fast! He already has 6 milk teeth (4 upper front teeth and 2 lower front teeth) and he made it without getting sick. He had a mild fever of 37.5 degree Celsius last night but he’s well now after taking up some paracetamol for babies.

I asked Mom to cooked pansit canton, one of our favorite from my Mom’s golden hands while I and Nathan with my sister went to meet with my friends in Makati to get the toy car a friend gave to Nathan before she leave to France this mid August. She said it her advance birthday gift and Nathan was so delighted. I take the opportunity to buy Nathan’s cake before we headed home. We were so tired but my family was there to celebrate Nate’s special day. Aubrey said he can’t wait for Nathan’s first birthday. 3 more months and I’m keeping my hands busy already.
