Weekend Job

Sometimes you have to sacrifice your family day and your friends  get together because you need to help fulfil a certain jobs that needs all of your participation and cooperation.  But because I belong to the high spirited team in our company where team work and determination matters, all the hardships paid off. We were able to finish the job in two-day time and I think it’s the first in our project.  Above all that, we were able to work happy and joyful and no one is complaining.  It makes all the works easier to do.  We even enjoyed a simple meal altogether in our canteen.  How was that? The pictures below say it all.

Think good, feel good

I started my Monday at the office knowing I have to finish before the long holidays all the papers and checking to be submitted next week. I still have manage my time dividing all the works I have right now and April fools get into me and I have another work assignment in current lists right now but you can’t do anything to complain because If I will not accept it, then who will do it?

I have to shake off this feeling that long weekend is coming but my body says, I hope tomorrow is holiday because my body feels that I need to rest. I have a full day everyday and how I wish I can find what I’m checking for by just looking in one binder. But it’s not so I have to endure taking all the binders in my table, flipping each page one by one and do it all over again if I missed one item.

Well, maybe I’m new to the job and once I perfected the process, that is will be easy as 1-2-3. I have full hopes this April and I just have to give it all. I need to stay focus and positive always. Aja, aja! ♥

Big "B"

The Big B finally arrives and everybody in our office is very happy to receive such a wonderful acknowledgement from our company. It’s been long awaited by us and we counted the days since our HR head announced the date of its release. And now the moment comes and like me, the first thing I did after I wake up this morning is to check on the online banking.

I have plans in my head right now but the most important thing is to settle the payments on the house rental of our new home next month. I would like to treat my family and share the blessings with them but most especially bought something for myself as souvenir of my hard work.

We long planned to have a lunch out in a fancy restaurant to treat ourselves and some of our officemates and I’m glad many of them want to join us. We had a good times joking around and I bought a cake for the rest in the office.

It was indeed a thank God it’s friday and above all these, I need to save for Nathan’s future. Thank you Lord on this another big blessings and oh I forgot to say that Big B means Big Bonus :)

New Tasks

I was quite overwhelmed with the scope of work I had this year. I know I have to adjust fast and learn quick or else I will have deal to one of many nightmares of my life while at the office, ha-ha! Kidding aside, I need to brave myself on many changes that will happen this year. But most of all, I need to focus and do a perfect time management to be able to carry on with my new tasks.

I’m quite surprise that when I checked on the clock it was almost end of office hours and I was rushing to the rest room to do my thing and aside from that I’m worried that I will divert my other attention by eating. Oh my, I will have to concentrate on my diet but what can I do when I feel so busy and the foods are pouring beside my table because that’s the only thing my office mates wants to do when pressured and stressed was to eat, eat and eat.

So I have to say it’s a whole new world for us this year. I hope and pray to God we can make it through.

Exchage Gifts

Our yearly Christmas exchange gift our office is always as funny as ever. So I’m glad that most of us join this once a year event and everybody participated. The only things that change this year is that we have some raffle draws and I wish there will be more next year. Well, that really depends on our sponsors. But nevertheless, we had a great time because we were so excited who got who and what did they bought according to your wish list. You will have to describe your “baby” before you give your gift and then the baby will describe his/her baby and the laughter continues. Our small time raffle draws was even happier because we were all anticipating that I might get their name from the box. But though I went home empty handed from that raffle draw, I still recall the funny side of it. If only I can wish that we will be like that all the time, happy and relax.

I got a super duper cute teddy bear! :)

Office Night Out

To make it different this year, most of us decided to celebrate our Christmas party outside from our traditional lunch-snack feast at the office every year. Though I know it will be more costly to do that but it’s totally different now, the ambiance, the camaraderie, trust issues, and it’s never been the same before, people had a change of heart and we tend to group ourselves away from your team and it saddens me that only one person can help us to stay all together don’t do anything about it or don’t bother at all. I lost the interest of asking them if there will be any celebration but our courier’s boss step up and told me to go on with the usual plan. I’m glad that most of us were there in the venue at Shakeys, though some were late because of work but at least they came and I saw the happiness and hesitation on some faces but all well ends well. I genuinely had fun with the team. It felt good just by looking at them having a great time, too. I bought some useful things for the raffle draw this Thursday after our yearly exchange gift. I got my Starbucks planner and I got a free coffee from my seat mate, Mike. Another good night to remember :)

Chic and Sexy

A chic party is fine but sexy? Well, I have doubts about that. But it’s all in the mind. Actually, I feel sexy though my body says otherwise (ha-ha!). So when our company announced that we will have a chic and sexy party, I can only sigh that I will have to dress up casually in that occasion. I still have problems on my diet and my hubby is not that cooperating because he really loves to eat. I have new colleagues this year and as usual, we have a blast thought it’s a company event. One thing I am so proud of with our team is that we stick together in every event in our company and all is cooperating.

Though we have a popular restaurant as a caterer, they served foods that off in my taste so they don’t deserved a second serving, well that help with my diet. I also received a 5 year loyalty award plus a cash reward and most of us in our team received that award so we can be happier being in the stage though we are 102 recipients that night. We were not that lucky in the raffle draws and only one won the price of dinner for two in Sofitel Hotel which I asked him to sell the voucher to me. After the announcement of major raffle prize, I decided I should go home and I’m lucky that hubby was awake that time and he agreed to pick me up because I have my SLR camera to me and I don’t want to go home alone. I bid goodbye to my colleagues who’s starting to dance with the live band performing on the stage.

Hot Rainy Days

We were supposed to feel the cold weather since it keeps raining every afternoon, but no, we are experiencing the opposite. Majority of our warehouse air conditioners failed and were put on standby for repair so when it rains, the heat of the soil and the cement just come out leaving us in a very irritable situation while working. The electric fan were using doesn’t help and I wonder how can you ever work on such environment?

But good thing we can always think of how we can fight the heat in our working place. My colleague suggested buying an ice cream, but since not everybody can contribute, we decided to buy an ice cream cone. It was such a reliever and we can only wish there’s a refreshment area in our office canteen. But there’s none and we have to buy in the nearest Mercury Drug outlet. But at least it helps, and I wonder how many more ice cream we will consume before they can fix our aircon. May somebody help us.

Training Moments

I recently attended a 2-day training about customer service excellence, and I initially thought that can be too boring.  I never had much drive in attending seminars and training but since it's compulsory to join, I have no choice.   But it turned out to be fun and a learning experience, our facilitator is well knowledgeable, she had this bite size chocolates as reward for answering some questions and making us alert all the time.  My fellow attendees were I only recognize from their faces (now, I know their names as well) and some were from my department also.

We devoted some of our idle time after lunch taking pictures in the conference room.  I felt sorry for not remembering to bring my camera, so I used my cell phone camera to take pictures of my colleagues.

I learned so much from that training.  Somehow, it changed my mind in attending trainings like this.  Maybe it really depends on the environment and how you open your mind in learning more than just experiencing the whole of it on hand.  Aside from having 6 chocolates with me, my certificate of training completion serves a reminder that I'm looking for another one in the future.

Parts Center Event

I thought our Christmas celebration of our project/department in the office will not push through after what happened in our group during the last quarter of the year. But all well ends well and we decided to put aside all the differences and make amends. We did some personal contributions for the foods and had our funniest exchange gift where you have to describe your baby before you give your gift to her/him. We were all excited to see the looks on their face because we let them wear what they’ve got. It was all fun! I received what I asked for in my wish gift which is some baby product for Nathan. I got a cute pair of jump suit for Nathan.

chow time!

We served the foods at lunch and I’m glad that everybody was full and we really had fun and there were few left over (especially the rice) unlike last year. Merry Christmas, office mates! :)

In God's Time

Have you ever wished you could turn back the time? Those were the times that you thought you had wonderful and great times with them. But after all what was said and done and you both challenged each others with words that you couldn't take back anymore, you will keep asking yourself. What went wrong?

But they said that people tend to tell what’s really on their hearts when they’re angry. And you wanted to believe with that somehow and some point because you can’t see any excuse to explain everything. It made you realize that the friendship you build over the years was not enough. There will always been a trust issues after all. They said that it takes years to build the reputation and only few seconds to destroy it. Now you don’t know whose reputations are now destroyed. Though you don’t want to think about it, you always felt a heavy heart every time it crosses your mind. Sometimes, you just can’t let go and forget all about it. It keeps coming back and stab you over and over again. It created a deep impact in your life and you will have it forever.

Forgive those who asked for forgiveness and then move on. Can it still bring back the old times? We don’t know. Maybe, someday, in God’s time.

English speaking zone

My male office mate gave me an idea to ask them to speak straight English within our office area.  And it gave us a good laugh.  I can’t stop from laughing because he’s translating Tagalog words in English terms literally and per word (ha-ha!)

After we had our lunch, we can always felt sleepy and sluggish to work but now the new task gave us an all smile and good laugh while working.  It is so hilarious! I told them that any Tagalog word I'll hear from them will have to fine P1.00 payable on our payday next week.  Then the total amount will be use in buying our snacks on every Friday.

Now, no one is talking. Ha-ha-ha!

Farewell

One of our favorite bosses in our company passed away last Sunday morning due to blood cancer. It was such a struggle on his part and he fought that deadly disease for more than a year now. We thought he surpassed the storm when we saw him in our office and smiling at us last year. He even attended our yearly Christmas gathering and he said to me that our team should perform in this year Christmas presentation. He really looked alright though he dropped 80% of his body weight.

Sir Tonet is the epitome of a good and helpful executive whom you can always rely on. I wish we can all have this kind of person in every company. But he is with our God now. And it’s time to let go.

He will lay to rest on Friday at Manila Memorial in Paranaque. Though we can’t be there because of work, I know he understands. Rest in peace, Sir Tonet, you will always be remembered.

Still Down

Unfortunately, we still don’t have internet connection in the office. And it’s getting into my nerves! Good thing I was able to bring my broad band and it miraculously work to help open our internet based system. Though I have to do it manually because the network printer won’t work, at least I was able to lessen the burden of not doing anything at all while the customers are having the time of their lives complaining because of the delayed deliveries.

Gosh, this is one thing I hated most. And as much as I wanted to just take a leave from work, I will still feel restless because I’ll be thinking of the problems we will face once our connection is up.

I always remind myself that patience is a virtue. I guess I need to recite that more often.

No Access

Our lines are down in the office for two days. And the most irritating part is we are included in the 2-hour rotating brownout yesterday and can you imagine being in a place that was so hot, no electricity, no internet, no music and we can only talked to each other and waste your time doing nothing and then going home feeling weak. If I have known that it will be the same today, I should have stay at home and do something more meaningful. Sleep? Rest? Ha-ha!

see? I'm kind of bored.. ha-ha!

While looking for some things to do to occupied our time, first picture with our new office mate (seated in the right), Gelai.

My online friends are asking me if I could come with them to Cathy’s shooting location in Pililia, Rizal today. The place is quite far and they will stay overnight and I’m afraid I can’t do that. If I were single and unavailable like them, perhaps I’m with them right now and going to the location shooting of our favorite artists. But I have to refrain doing that since I got married. Hubby is understanding and its okay with it, but I have stop myself. Self discipline is also a virtue =) I’ll just see them through the pictures they will post in our thread site.

Tonight, I can sleep late and wake up late tomorrow because it’s a public holiday! What a great feeling!:)

Office Party!

Despite one minor incident, we just had an amazing Christmas get together here in our office.  I was assigned in the over all planning in this yearly event and I don’t know why some people can get used to that tradition.  Let’s call them the Grinch, (from the movie of Jim Carrey) but we can’t just allow few people to ruin the happy mood and I was right, this year is the funniest and the happiest Christmas party ever in my more than 3 years in our company and 6 years for this project.

We start off with a sumptuous lunch before we proceeded with the exchange gift. For a change, I asked them to describe their baby before giving them their gift.  And I just could imagine that it will be funnier than by just giving them their gift, the description on their baby was hilarious! Party games followed and I’m glad that everybody participated including our bosses.

I don’t want to planned for this small gathering at first, we are planning for a lunch out get together but I was right, this is so much fun than by just eating in a restaurant.   So I said to myself, this day is a fun day, no room for “GRINCH” attitudes and we are all happy in the true spirits of Christmas.

Tomorrow is my last day and I'll be on leave on the Dec. 28 and 29.  So happy!

Girl Bonding

It’s nice to know that despite having hectic days of manual work because of printer down, we still have this little chance to do some make over before our annual Christmas party at SMX in Mall of Asia this afternoon. We really planned for this event and we see to it that we bring all our necessary beauty accessories and make-ups. I really hope that this night is the night that we can forget all those work blues, deadlines, paper works and issues and should only concentrate on partying.

Last week, I asked my colleagues if they want to have a videoke night out near the party venue and I’m glad that most of the girls and even the guys agreed to the idea. I had already made a reservation at Music 88 in Blue Wave just near Mall of Asia and we will all go there after the party. I hope everybody will be happy and this is the night that spells F-U-N!

Down and Up

We sometimes experience some unavoidable happenings in our job and the latest casualty is our main printer. And for the first time in my working life, I flared up and even throw my ball pen in frustrations. Because it’s almost 4 days now that we do the entire manual thing and we write and write all the time in an endless routine so it won’t hamper our operations. My right arm felt numb and my fingers suddenly stopped to move and my head ache added insult to the injury.

The good thing is I learned to go back to my usual cheerful side after a while of disappointments. I take it as a challenge and I encourage happy conversations with my colleague while working so we won’t feel tired and to forget that after doing manual and the printer is up, we will still have to continue the filing and updating the system. What a wonderful world, ha-ha!

So we take a break and pose for this picture during our lunch break. Still looking good, huh! =
