Countdown

We only have 3 days left before New Year. I have been very busy during my long vacation and I really make the most of time that I am free from work because 2010 is another year of challenge, perseverance, patience and hard work for me. I was so happy that I got to bond more with my family and especially with the twin sons of my brother. I know it will take months before we got to see them again but we know that spending time with them really made them very happy. My sister wants to go to Subic but most of us have other plans to do so she cancelled the trip. Actually, I really wanted to go out of town but some of hubby’s relatives are staying in our house and we just can’t leave them while we go out of town on our own.

I still have few more days left before 2010 and I already made some plans on our New Year menu and games plus fire works as we welcome another year ahead of us. I hope and I pray that this is the year for me.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, friends!

We’ve had a great time last night as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ! I did all the usual cooking for the Noche Buena, from the main menu to dessert and the cakes and pastries were from hubby’s cousin and his family who came to celebrate with us. My sisters hosted a game for the kids and for the adults, too. We really had a great laugh on the games especially when the grannies came to participate on the “bring me” contests. Hubby led the thanksgiving prayer before we feasted on the foods. All are anticipating on the gift giving moments and we open our gifts altogether.

And as we close the night, I thank our Lord for all the love, health and blessings He showered on us all year through. Happy Birthday, Papa Jesus!

Sleep Deprivation

I never thought that mid week can really feel like it’s Friday! Since December 24 was declared as a non -working holiday, this is my last day here in the office and I filed a leave of absence for the remaining working days next week  till New Year.  I can’t sleep last night because hubby attended their Christmas party and since I’m all alone in our room, I list down all the ingredients I needed to buy for my menu at Christmas Eve and I put in one place the curtains, bed and pillow sheets so I can change it all this evening and also I had some last minute gift wrapping.  I moved some fragile display on our bedroom and in my computer table because the whole family will come tomorrow and it will be a disaster once the kids stay in our room.  Before I knew it, I heard the clock ticks and it is almost 3am in the morning!  And I didn’t even notice that hubby came and is already sleeping beside me (ha-ha!)

Now, I really feel sleepy and I really wanted to laid down and sleep.  But I need to calm down, I need to recharge, I still have more hours before I can call it a day.  My hubby said that some of his relatives are already in the house now, they spend Christmas with us.

I read all the good reviews on the movie Avatar, I wish I still have the time to watch that before the all Filipino film festival this Christmas.  But I’m depriving my body the sleeps it needs and I felt that my head will detach on my body anytime now if I won’t rest and give back my energy.

Office Party!

Despite one minor incident, we just had an amazing Christmas get together here in our office.  I was assigned in the over all planning in this yearly event and I don’t know why some people can get used to that tradition.  Let’s call them the Grinch, (from the movie of Jim Carrey) but we can’t just allow few people to ruin the happy mood and I was right, this year is the funniest and the happiest Christmas party ever in my more than 3 years in our company and 6 years for this project.

We start off with a sumptuous lunch before we proceeded with the exchange gift. For a change, I asked them to describe their baby before giving them their gift.  And I just could imagine that it will be funnier than by just giving them their gift, the description on their baby was hilarious! Party games followed and I’m glad that everybody participated including our bosses.

I don’t want to planned for this small gathering at first, we are planning for a lunch out get together but I was right, this is so much fun than by just eating in a restaurant.   So I said to myself, this day is a fun day, no room for “GRINCH” attitudes and we are all happy in the true spirits of Christmas.

Tomorrow is my last day and I'll be on leave on the Dec. 28 and 29.  So happy!

Twins in Town

I admit we are not in good terms with my sister in-law.  Those harsh words she throw and her jealousy to us was quite unforgivable considering we did our very best to made her feel comfortable and her pregnancy easy when she stayed in our house in Laguna.  But as the saying goes, you cannot please everybody and she falls in that hard to please category.  When she went abroad last month, my brother said my Mom can ask his mother-in law so the twins can spend Christmas with us.  We are quite amazed on how they grow so fast and they can really make your day with their jolly moods especially the youngest, Paolo.  The eldest seems aloof to us but he gradually adjusted to his new environment as the days passed by.  Even Vince said if the twins can stay with us till new year but my sister said she need to bring back the twins after Christmas.  But at least they can now experience our happy way version of Christmas celebration.

Yesterday, I meet them at Quantum in SM Sucat and they are so happy running around the area and I suddenly felt sad that they are so far away from us and we only have ample time to be with them every year.  We want to see them grow right before our eyes but we know that’s not possible.  So we just treasure the time that they are with us.

Party People

We really had a good time last Friday during our company’s Christmas party. Everybody dressed in their 80’s and got there in time for the mass and the venue was really great and smells expensive. We still have the same caterer like last year and I would say that Albergus is getting better. Albergus offered us varieties of foods, desserts, appetizers and the overflowing drinks and beers plus their attentive staffs were all great and superb! I am one of the lucky one to get a consolation prize of T-shirt (ha-ha!) and this year, most of us in the project got a little something from consolation to one of the major prize in the raffle draws. I must say it’s better than nothing (he-he). We stayed till the entire group presentations are over and we got to hear the first set of the invited band and we dance to the groove in a small place near our table. At past 12 midnight, we walked to the next pit stop which is the Music 88 (to the horror of the ladies who wears high-heeled shoes!) but once were there the tired mood changes to videoke kings and queens. I’m so glad looking at them dancing and singing their hearts out and without inhibitions and drinking margarita and tequila sunrise. It lasted for 3 hours and I reached home at almost 4am where hubby is waiting for me in the gate.

We plan on going there again after our warehouse Christmas party next week. I hope that everyone can go with us this time.

The pictures below says it all =)

Girl Bonding

It’s nice to know that despite having hectic days of manual work because of printer down, we still have this little chance to do some make over before our annual Christmas party at SMX in Mall of Asia this afternoon. We really planned for this event and we see to it that we bring all our necessary beauty accessories and make-ups. I really hope that this night is the night that we can forget all those work blues, deadlines, paper works and issues and should only concentrate on partying.

Last week, I asked my colleagues if they want to have a videoke night out near the party venue and I’m glad that most of the girls and even the guys agreed to the idea. I had already made a reservation at Music 88 in Blue Wave just near Mall of Asia and we will all go there after the party. I hope everybody will be happy and this is the night that spells F-U-N!

Down and Up

We sometimes experience some unavoidable happenings in our job and the latest casualty is our main printer. And for the first time in my working life, I flared up and even throw my ball pen in frustrations. Because it’s almost 4 days now that we do the entire manual thing and we write and write all the time in an endless routine so it won’t hamper our operations. My right arm felt numb and my fingers suddenly stopped to move and my head ache added insult to the injury.

The good thing is I learned to go back to my usual cheerful side after a while of disappointments. I take it as a challenge and I encourage happy conversations with my colleague while working so we won’t feel tired and to forget that after doing manual and the printer is up, we will still have to continue the filing and updating the system. What a wonderful world, ha-ha!

So we take a break and pose for this picture during our lunch break. Still looking good, huh! =

Busiest time of the year

I posted earlier that this is the month that made me so busy during weekends. My schedule is fully booked till the end of the month. Christmas parties get together, meet-ups, activities are exhausting but it made me happy and feels so excited. Anyways, it was just once a year that we can all have this. I had a great time with my high school friends last Friday, we celebrated one of my guy classmates birthday in Music 88 in Blue Wave, Pasay and we really had a great time while singing, updating our current family lives, reminiscing the old days, having fun with each other and we even continue talking and joking in Starbucks. I am so happy seeing them all especially the guys because we rarely had a change to meet because of schedule conflicts but this time they came.

.

Saturday is yet another event that I and my youngest sister attended. It is the Nestle Club mini-Christmas party that was held in Nestle Julius Maggie kitchen in Nestle building in Rockwell, Makati. They sent a notification thru e-mails and I thought at first that I will not attend if my sister won’t confirm that she will come too. But good thing she doesn’t have anything to do that day and so we planned that we will go together. It was fun activities and we got to know some home makers who also attended the events, we got the chance to do our own tiramisu ref cake and we will able to see Nestle resident chef Tess in a cooking demo. And most of all, the yummy lunch they had for us and the Nestle goodies give-away for each of the attendees. It was such a great experience for us.

I was a bit feeling dizzy when we go to Mall of Asia after the Nestle events, I really feel so sleepy and I really wanted to rest, but hubby and my mother in law was there to do some Christmas shopping. And after we had a snack in Polo Loco, I thought we are going home but hubby said he wants to go to the World Trade bazaar in Buendia, I think I faint that time. But still we proceeded to the venue. I think that events were hosted by ABS-CBN, and there is an entrance fee of P30. And my worst fear came true (ha-ha!), there are many people in the place and I can think of anything more but to sleep and rest, I just go in the flow and I didn’t check for some items that I could buy. Well, they bought some item, especially foods and snack and at last, we went home and I immediately lay down in our bed to sleep. What a day! =)

Now, I am going to Greenbelt 3 for a yearly get together of my online friends. I skipped the change to meet them last year because I fell sick that time but this time, I need to see them at least for a few hours because we need to go to Quaipo with hubby after. I think I need a foot spa after all of these. Well, tomorrow is another day and I need to restore my energy fast.

Weekend Report

Back to work again, I really enjoyed my weekend plus a holiday. Would you believe we really spent 2 days by just staying at home? Oh, yes, hubby was possessed by an angel and he decided to have a general cleaning on our room and in the room of my mother in-law. What I did was I explored my cooking skills by doing a homemade pizza. We bought all the ingredients in the supermarket and instead of expensive mozzarella cheese, I used cheddar and it taste great! By the time hubby finished doing his own tasks, he was full on my pizza and almost night time to go out anymore =)

First day of December, I’m almost done in wrapping all the gifts for the youngsters. I still have to think some unique gifts for the oldies. I can now feel the cold breeze in the morning and everywhere I go, you can say that it is already Christmas. I can’t think of anything to give to hubby this year. I would like to order online for his favorite international beers but that is my last options. But he really wanted that, when we went to Subic Bay last Wednesday, he searched some wine/beer stores in the area but his brand is not available. I guess I have to decide as early this week or else, I will not have that much time since I have to do the buying online.

I’m still have full schedule this weekend. I hope I can attend all of it without falling sick. I am so prone to sickness every December and I really hate the feeling. I hope it will spare me this time. Please! =)

Hard habit to break

I thought I passed over on my Pinoy Big Brother addiction, but I was wrong.  This season of PBB made me relieved all the memories from the past like going to the PBB hall during live eviction night, meet-ups with fellow online friends, and my very first time going to the PBB big night at Araneta Coliseum to support season 2 housemate, Mickey Perz.  It was such a wonderful experience that I got to be with his family and friends and all this wonderful friends whom I only knew from their usernames in a site or forum where you can support your favorite housemates.  And even after PBB was over, we sometimes meet in one place near ABS-CBN compound, and talked about anything about us and Mickey ( sometimes he drops by to have some chit-chats with us) Though all this, hubby supported me all the way.  And I can say that I’m so lucky to have an understanding husband you can ever wish for.

Now, he’s not even surprised seeing me on my late night habit of going to the 24/7 live stream site just to get a first hand info's on my favorite housemates.  He said because of this I limit my time attending to my games at Face book (ha-ha!) but increase my time in front of the computer.  I still have few months to go on like this but I never forget my other obligations at home, or else, hubby will sell all my farms (in face book) and cut my live stream watching =)

So, who will be my bet for Big 4?

It's in the air

I can feel Christmas everywhere now.  And I already finished my job in decorating our house.  It’s been my duty to make our little home to feel and look like Christmas.  I checked first our old decors if it’s still reusable before I decided to buy their replacements.  So far so good on the lights and the balls but I bought a new garland for my wall decorations.  Good thing hubby helped me on the drilling issues.  I hate to hammer nails on the wall and ending up hurting my fingers.

It is December next week and I have lots of occasions to attend to. Gosh, I’m so famous! Ha-ha-ha! We have an early company Christmas party on December 11, my sister and I are invited in the Nestle Club Christmas party on December 5 and at night, I need to attend a high school reunion in Blue Wave, Pasay.  On December 6, we will attend a baby christening and I still don’t know yet if there will be an out of the blue invitation.  One thing for sure, our weekend this Yuletide season will be the busiest one.

My first cup cakes

I’ve found a way to bake last night. I’m not in a mood to move around the house because I’m feeling sick but the bananas I bought is over ripe now and it’s the main ingredients in my cup cakes. Now that I’m starting to feel how I expensive baking is. I know now the importance of complete ingredients to be able to cook delicious pastries, cakes or even bread or else, your products will all go to waste.

But I am starting to think if I'm destined to do well in this new craft. My finished product looks good and everyone here in the house told me it is really delicious. My hubby ate 3 cup cakes in one sitting and he said he will bring some to his office. I will try to bake other than my banana expertise and I hope I can find ways how to sell them out. For now, I will just let my family and some friends enjoy it.
